A celebration of the Senses- the Market

Ansouis, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azu, France
After a fresh chocolate croissant, and coffee...we headed just down the street to the weekly market. Fantastic. The streets were jammed with locals buying produce and visitors looking for treasures. Stalls with selections of cheeses, wines, fruits, vegetables, colored with vendors selling the most beautiful flowers. One stand was filled with herbs and seasoning, one with so many different onions and garlic and the bread, oh the bread, true manna from above, I am forever spoiled, we bought an olive loaf for lunch, local goat cheese, and a freshly made quiche. There was music, strange sounding produced from a long wooden tube. We shopped, Charles tried to buy sandals but it seems the French have small feet, no size big enough for him. Purchased a lovely set of tiles, saw an endangered pig, a couple walking ferrets, so many sites to overwhelm the visitor. Stopped for a drink at the local cafe, lunch and hit the road northeast to the Luberon forest and the small town of Ansouis, recognized as one of the most beautiful inFrance. Arrived, could not get into the main part of the town as it was a night of celebration, streets closed for a huge antique market tomorrow.
Michel and Stefan who own the 16th century chateau we are staying in, made a remarkable dinner . First , wine and appetizers on the patio, followed by three course meal, cold melons pup with prosciutto , stuffed vegetable, and then apricot dessert- all so delicious and of course, the bread ....followed by more drinking, each couple received their own bottle. We listened to the sound of Dalida, a famous French singer and the the perfect ending to the night, fantastic town fireworks

British saying: While putting our luggage in the car, Annie said, put it in the "boot", I replied "you mean the trunk", Mick said that would be an elephant's nose. Boot or trunk, you decide
