LA DOLCE, FA NIENTE

Sorrento, Campania, Italy
Rain last night, sunshine today. Breakfasted with Stephen, he leaves this morning. It has been so much fun having him here, his unpredictability and spontaneity inspire me and bring me joy. His unexpected arrival has brought this vacation to a new level, how fortunate am I to be in my favorite place with two of my sons- a blessing.

Michael drags himself to come and see him, M&M have had quite a night in the bars here, met lots of people and stayed out until the wee hours . Charles and I relax by the pool today. There is a large group from Belfast staying here for a family wedding and we chat a bit with them.

M&M awaken at lunchtime, we head to our "top of the list pizzeria," where you are served rectangle pizzas in tins, molto bene. We walk them to the train, they're heading to tour Pompei. We just spend the afternoon meandering about the city....treating ourselves to delicious gelato and buying gifts for the grandkids, stopping to see our friend Ottavio.

At night we go to Il Fuoro, wonderful food(more pastas, one with seafood, one Bolognese, a carbonara and canneloni.). Music too, Italian songs totally foreign to M&M but to Charles and I they bring back fond memories of our childhoods in Italian American neighborhoods.

It is quite unexplainable but I feel so very at home here and so wish I could spend more time here.

Title translates, The sweetness of doing nothing......

Imagine I am writing this on my terrace overlooking the sea and Naples(with church bells ringing in the background). AHHH!!!!

I felt the same way, even though it was my first time their, it felt like I have been there before.
