Sleepless in Seattle

Seattle, Washington, United States
Many years ago after watching this movie, I wanted to visit Seattle, it looked like a romantic location on the water. Think Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks as we journey across the entire USA  Flight here, 5 hrs uneventful and smooth, light rail takes us to Capitol Hill where our bed and breakfast, the Gaslight Inn is located. First impression is that there are lots of trees and lots of homeless.  The b &b is a grand old house, filled with American art and beautiful stained glass. Steven it's owner is warm and friendly. Our room is great, huge windows a living area area and bedroom, nicely furnished with old antique pieces. There is wood everywhere, carved moldings and doors. A real showplace only quirky thing is a/c is in the bathroom!
We unpack, stop for a sandwich at Bakery Nuovo and head downtown to Pike Market to meet up with our free walking tour guide Jake. We meet him by the totem poles at the North end, a small park inhabited by homeless. We are to learn that their population has increased by 25 %. We walk through the market, seeing the original Starbucks which has a different logo, ( naked breasts)over to City Fish where they toss huge fish đŸÂŸ back and forth, Andrew Zimmer is there filming, so we watch. The market has delicious fruit and the most beautiful flowers. đŸŒş We taste some dried fruit  and veg products,( who knew I like dried okra) delicious and some smoked salmon. We visit the gum wall , a disgusting collection of previously chewed gum , Jake is very well spoken and interesting, it is his own business   Oh senior travel here is great, all day ticket on light rail$2 each
It is smoky here residue from fires in Canada, we seem to be in the path of natural disasters as of late, vacationing while harboring thoughts of Irma as she continues on her path of destruction aiming for our Florida home đŸÂĄ
We head back and go out to dinner nearby Poquitos, FYI, a surprise for us this town is a climb all the streets go uphill.  (2nd in steep climbs, 1st is San Fran.) Early night we've been up since our 5 am exit from RVC and it's now midnight Ny time. Our elderly parts are screaming for sleep... get it.  . ah SLEEP LESS in Seattle
