Heading to the White House

Sunday, September 10, 2017
Seattle, Washington, United States
Leaving Seattle, I check our next destination and just glance at hotel reviews.  Seems that this 4 star hotel  is presently overrun by homeless at its entrance  I quickly cancel. Our host here finds us a new place
After breakfast we head to King Station for Amtrak Cascade Express to Portland, a great scenic journey Our new place is massive, built in 1910(modeled after the original). We settle in the Rose room and explore....no one is here, all the guests are out, staff is hosting a barrel tasting off site. So We inspect the kitchen,  take note of dining room set for 24, walk through the back gardens then I  kick my feet up in the sitting room while Charles plays the baby grand. We could adjust to this lifestyle and guess what it's on the market for 2.6 million
A bus takes us to the Pearl District which is lovely, (BUT is bordered by a tent city full of homeless)Stopping for a coffee, a young couple with their baby sits next to us -Turns out the husband's father owns a new building across from our project in LIC, (six degrees of separation )
We walk to Powells books, the largest bookstore in the US of new, used and rare books . Impressive We return to Irvington where our mansion is located and eat  at Thai Pod

The White House looks like my kind of place. Would never imagine the homeless population to be such a problem there.

I love the place where you are staying..... Art Deco gets to me! It is sad to know that the homeless problem is so widespread. Tent cities in the U.S. ......unbelievable!

It looks like the homeless did you an indirect favor, new option looks much nicer...how's the Thai food there?
