Woke up to the repetition of a fog horn, Hazy mist as I walked the beach ,we headed out early. Exiting this one horse town we stopped at the first coffee place, the Jitterbean.Too early, no fresh donuts BUT yesterdays were half - price. We took the bargain, as the long, long ,winding ride on the Redwood Highway loomed before us. Snapped tourist photo of Paul Bunyan and the Blue Ox ( a character from my childhood)
Charles then drove for hours, unending turns, road construction, we passed Lost Man Creek, Mad River,Hooker Creek, Confusion Hill and sign for a lost chicken. We stopped to drive thru the Redwood tree on Hole in the Tree Road ( so tacky) and saw the One Log House. Enough of the Redwoods now, drive on.
Stopped at In & Out burgers for lunch, a California delight. Arrived at our beautiful b & b, the Candlelight Inn, a magnificentTudor. Dan greeted us with wine and cheese...we headed to downtown Napa toured the Oxbow Market and had dinner at Grotts. We walked around the area, lots of shops and restaurants. Returned to the bed with its 12 pillows and sunk right in ....
