Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands
Happy Thanksgiving!

Wolfed down a quick breakfast to get ready for the 8:30 bus to Toledo .

Toledo was the capital of Spain 500 years ago, but the bishops and noblemen bothered the king so much he moved to Madrid. Toledo is a walled city first built by the Romans 2000 years ago. After Rome fell the area was ruled by the German tribes for a few hundred years, before the Catholics took over. The Moors (Muslims) took over around 700 - 800, & by about 1400 the Christian's ruled again. The point is that buildings from each of these eras is still standing. It's all surrounded by a massive stone wall. We had Spanish as well as English speakers on the trip so our guide switched back and forth. Got back about 6 PM and walked to our hotel. We are staying at the Best Western Los Condos located on the Gran Via, the Main Street in Madrid. It's like Time Square.

Went for a walk to find dinner. The Christmas lights were in for the first time. Trees, lights, arches, etc were all over. 1000s of people were walking all over. I bought an umbrella as it might rain tomorrow.
For supper we went to El Conte Ingles, a huge department store with a tapas restaurant on top.
Great choice. Place was packed. Food was delicious.

On the walk home stopped a McDonalds Cafe & had coffee & cake. No turkey.

Temp about 6 degrees C or 42 F
