Whitby, England, United Kingdom
Today has been overcast and drizzly rain throughout. We have walked extensively around the town ,booked our tickets on the train to Pickering and back ,and walked to Pannett Park and visited the Whitby museum and Art Gallery.
Pannett Park was bequeathed to the people of Whitby by Alderman Robert Elliot Pannett in 1920 and opened in 1928.
The Whitby Museum was founded in 1823 by the Whitby Literary and Philosophical Society and has been run by this band of volunteers for the last 180 years.
The museum was sectioned into:the Explorers Wing,Captain Cook,William Scoresby.
Shipping, geology and fossils, natural history and archaeology.
It was a wonderful afternoon and we walked back to the apartment in the rain, and in overload!.
We have just come back from having a very nice dinner and we are looking forward to a reasonably early night,it is now 10.30.
Tomorrow we will take the steam train to Pickering.
