The train trip to London.

Friday, June 20, 2014
London, United Kingdom
Yesterday we packed up and left Paris via the attic stairs and 180 steps from the attic to the ground, then walked to the station Gare du Nord .
We clear customs and head to the waiting area .Suddenly we have Gendarmes everywhere and people are asked to move to the end of the waiting area.It was a bomb scare. It appears some tourists had found some empty, supposedly, brass bomb cases, and this caused all hell to break loose as they had packed them in their luggage.
The announcements were shared with us all, very unusual as one would assume that they would be keen to keep it under wraps and move on.
We board the train,we have seats 46 and 47 in the First Class area.
It is sedate, quiet and the seats are plush and comfortable. We head off and we are served a very nice meal with beverages and wine.
We have loved the French wine and appreciated its fine quality.
We arrive in St Pancras station at 1.30 and walk straight out and hail a cab.English speaking and cockney at that! We have been in France for 3 weeks and the difference is very noticeable.
We head to our apartment in Fitzroy Street.
We have suitcases full of washing and we are keen to empty them out and get some order into our travel packs.
We have an Italian meal for dinner and head home for a so called early night. Again another late evening.
Today we are planning the next few days.Tomorrow we are going to see a show and we will plan some other activities accordingly.

It's hard enough negotiating the railway stations without a bomb scare!
Enjoy London.
Tomorrow it's going to be 9degrees, and snow on the Brindabellas. Looks as though winter is here at last. We've hardly had a frost while you've been away. We hear Carol and her husband are having a ball, but she's obviously going to save it all for us when she gets home.
I am loving your blog. I actually sent it on to a friend who is going to France in September, and wants to get out into a small town to stay. She's a real Francophyle, so she's loving your blog. I hope I didn't break any privacy laws!!
Warwick has a malignant tumor on the sternum, which is the reason for his surgery, and the girls all asked for an update when we had more news. I realise you didn't have a clue what that email was all about, and I'm sorry to have burdened you when you're on holiday.
Keep loving London. XX Lyn.
