Knightsbridge

London, United Kingdom
We headed off this morning with the intention of checking out a couple of shops we had seen previously.
We headed into the Tiger shop which is very much like our junk shops but with a little more finesse . They are Danish and unbelievably quirky.
From here we went back to Primark because I wanted to have a look around without the crowds .
Consumable clothing is de riguer at the moment and not to my taste.I walked out after sifting through several racks and the sensible traveller took over once again.
We headed off to catch a train to Knightsbridge.
We walked to Bloomsbury Square digressing to Sicilian Avenue, for a refreshing beverage, then walked up South Hampton Row to the Brunswick Shopping Centre next to the Russell Street Metro Station.
We had a snack then caught a train to Knightsbridge. We got off the train and headed for Brompton Road.
Harrods is an upmarket department store that occupies a 5 acre 20,000 m squared site and has over 330 departments making it the biggest department store in Europe.
The Harrods motto is Omnia Omnibus Ubique- All Things For All People, Everywhere.
Harrods founder Charles Henry Harrod first established his business in 1824, aged 25.
It is now owned by Qatar Holdings.
It is a sight to behold but I have to say we barely got past the ground floor .The opulence and grandeur takes over and it is all too much!
We headed off after viewing the wines and exclusive watches and headed to Knightsbridge Station and headed back to Kings Cross St Pancras.
London St Pancras is a Central London railway terminus and grade 1 listed building located on Euston Road.It was opened in 1868 by the Midland Railway.
Construction of a hotel fronting the station,The Grand Midland Hotel began in 1868; the hotel opened in 1873.
The St.Pancras Renaissance London Hotel occupies parts of the original Midland Grand Hotel, including the main public rooms, together with a new bedroom wing on the western side of the Barlow train shed.
The hotel had its grand opening on May 5 2011, exactly 138 years after it's original opening in 1873.
From here we walked along Euston Road, back to Tottenham Court Road which is close to the apartment.
A purchase of some supplies and we headed home.
Another very full day!
Tomorrow we are going to the Liberty Shop and then we are heading to St Paul's Cathedral.
Tomorrow evening we are going to another stage show The Commitments,we are really looking forward to this as we really love the music of the original Commitments.
