First step of journey home

Reykjavik, Capital Region, Iceland
It was only a short drive back to Reykjavik, and an easy one. All sealed roads and few mountains. It seemed a fitting winding down day.

Two nights in Reykjavik, I wanted it now to hurry up. All has been so good but now the itinerary is complete my mind is programmed for home. We spent the day with a little sightseeing, cleaning up the car, and packing for the flight.

As a special celebration of the last night we enjoyed an Iceland dinner at Apotek. Turned out to be a lovely dinner at a special place.

We rose at 3am the next day to catch the little bus to take us to the Flybus to the airport. That goes well but the next 2 hours are frustrating. It seems that this is the busiest time at the airport. Our airline staff cannot cope, and nor can the security check area. We finally reach the gate at final call. We had been up 4 hours and stood in queues for 2 hours. With no coffee let alone breakfast we were a bit frustrated (weren't we B?).

But soon all was forgotten as we took the first step of the journey home.
