Given that most of yesterday involved simply sitting in the car, we sleep until 9am for unknown reasons. It may be that we are still both hacking with remnants of colds. Whatever the reason, we don't mind, as a day in Lorne is a beach holiday sort of day. The sky is mostly clear and the sun on the back is so good. After the winds and wild seas of Warrnambool, the still air and gentle rolling waves along the foreshore are soothing.
The main street was desolate when we arrived yesterday afternoon but there's much more life this morning
. We grab breakfast and peruse the shops.
We drive up to Qdos Gallery - perched delightfully in the eucalyptus forests behind town - and find good local art, sculpture and coffee.
From there, we continue to Erskine Falls before returning to spend time beach-combing and formulating dinner plans.
Rohan has recommended the gourmet pizzas in Airey's Inlet so rather than scope town for another venue, we make the half hour drive around the coast. The drive is good, the pizzas are great. The day finishes with scores of kangaroos around at Anglesea's golf course.
Catharine feels she can die happy now and I have just become the greatest tour guide around!...
