It's better on TV...

New Delhi, India
So F1 race day today, I'm really excited about the start of the race as I'm right alongside the first two cars, as I'm on the pit straight there won't be much more action until the end of the race. My hotel is a 30 minute drive from the track so I booked a taxi for 2 hours before the start. I thought that would give me plenty of time to get there and be in position for the start.
As this is my first time in India I thought I'd be fine, and I would have been if the taxi turned up on time ..My hotel is in the middle of nowhere as well so there weren't any other options. The taxi was an hour late and the traffic was quite bad, I got to the circuit with 8 minutes to go. In that time I had to get a bus for 5 minutes and then clear two lots of security. I legged it of the bus and pretty much ignored the security, got to the bottom of the grandstand with 3 flights of stairs to climb just as I heard the cars revving up for the off, I then heard them go....by this time I was out of puff so I thought I might as well get a drink and then go up. So of I went, as I was in the queue I heard the cars again, I then realized that I heard them go off on the warm up lap. So I'd had time to get up stairs to see the start..It's not like I've never watched it on TV so I should have known better. I still blame the taxi though!!

So the race wasn't that exciting for me, not a lot of action on the pit straight apart from watching the crews do there stuff, you can't hear the commentary so the best bit for me was the podium action at the end.

I'll stick to watching it on TV in future....

Pictures to follow.
