Staying in one place has it´s advantages, however, it doesn´t create the same opportunities for new adventure and photos as when I am constantly on the move. As a result, updates are fewer and farther between. I am still a hiking guide in Leon, Nicaragua and I´m sort of stuck here since I like where I´m at and haven´t mustered the motivation to move on just yet.

While hiking the other day, I observed a dung-beetle working fruitlessly by rolling a little ball of cow poop (see photo) . I´m not sure where he was trying to go. Sometimes, he would roll it uphill, only to chase after it when it rolled back to where he started. Sometimes he would just go in circles, again, returning to the starting point. He rolls the poop into as large a ball as possible, all day, every day. This, I am told, is to impress fellow poop rollers and perhaps attract a cute girl dung-beetle. The dung-beetle works hard in the hot, central american sun with what appears to be little or no reward, no time for fun, and just letting life "roll" by. It is clearly a crappy job. Thinking of days past, I too used to roll the poop. I rolled it uphill. I rolled it in circles. I rolled it in cubicles and offices. I rolled it on the phone and the factory floor and sometimes back in the warehouse. I rolled it down the highway and on the computer. You should have seen it! What a great ball of poop! I rolled it in a hat, with a cat, in a plane and on a train ... oh wait, that wasn´t me. Well, like I was saying earlier, I am sort of stuck here in Leon Nicaragua as a hiking guide meeting dozens of other travelers from places all around the world. I haven´t rolled any poop lately but that´s OK. I´ve decided to leave that to the dung-beetles.
