So I decided I felt good enough to move on from Mancora. My ankle feels better and I can walk reasonable distances now with much less pain. So I jumped on a bus to Chiclayo, one of Peru's fastest growing cities and home to a few ancient ruins to check out. Most travelers just skip the next few cities I`ll visit but I am not "most travelers" and Peruvians have proven to be quite friendly and won't hesitate for a second to ask you where you're from and if you like it here. The answer so far is yes. In fact, I often can¡t even walk more than a few city blocks without someone talking to me... I am always hesitant at first since there are a number of beggars and people trying to sell crap no one ever wants...but overall everything has been fine and it's the people I meet that make a place what it is before any parks or buildings.

So while I was here I checked out the ancient ruins of Tucume and the little town of Lambayeque . The weekend came and went and was actually quite fun as the discotech I went to was packed and the typical Peruvian fiendliness prevailed. On Sunday, I was off to Cajamarca, a small town in the northern highlands. It is off the beaten track and I was actually a little bored there so I moved on to Trujillo, Peru's 3rd largest city.
