Buenos Aires must be a city of vampires. How else can you explain a nightclub that is jam packed at six in the morning ... on a Tuesday? No wonder their economy crashed 5 years ago... every one must have been too hung over to go to work! I spent my first week or so here exploring by day and seeing all the typical tourist stuff. But ever since I have joined the Argentinian vampires for a night tour of this crazy city. I have a ton of cool friends I met at the hostel so we always have a group that wants to do something.
Argentinean culture simply states that everything starts late
. We go out to dinner late; around 11 PM and wrap that up by 1 AM. Have some after dinner drinks til 2 AM, then head out to one of BA's night spots... the Argentinians don't even show up to the best places until 3 or 4 in the morning... and that's during the work week. Want to know about the weekend? There are several places that are "after hours" and doors open at 8 AM so you can continue to dance and party all day til 4 in the afternoon. I never made it to one of those. My average bedtime last week: 8:30 in the morning. What fun! But not very conducive to getting things done. So this week I have returned to some resemblance of normality since I had to be at the US embassy between 8:30 and Noon to get pages added to my passport. Mission accomplished so I am moving on...next stop, Uruguay. The hostel I stay at here in Buenos Aires is opening a new one over in Montevideo this Friday. I've arranged to get myself a job tending the bar in exchange for a free bed. We'll see how it goes....
And finally, I have to plug my friend Jamie's web sight again because She and "The Ig" (her hiking partner)don't have far to go to complete their walk of the entire Great Wall of China. The next part is the more famous section that most people are familiar with from photos. They will even get to camp in some of the watch towers. Anyway, here it is The Great Wall Nut

2 yrs 7 mths and still going strong!
How do you do it my friend?
As always we look forward to your blog. The thing I like is all those pictures of you and those lovely latino ladies! The joys of the single man.
B.A. is a hotspot and a favourite of ours and I love your thoughts on the Vampires, I don't know how they manage.
Don't forget Colonia De Sacramento in Uraguay, it was our fav such a lovely wee place. Stay at 'Alberge El Espangol'.
We're in Kathmandu at the mo, luxury compared to Tibet. We had 'PIZZA' last night, yes, 2 months in China and it becomes a novelty.
Take care and happy travels.
