We left Lima on the evening of 14th June, changed planes in Madrid and Heathrow and eventually arrived in Manchester on the evening of 15th June. The journey was accompanied by a fair share of confusion; although our baggage was checked through to Heathrow we were not. To make matters worse, our plane was cancelled, leaving us trapped in Madrid until we could get some sense from the a girl single-handedly staffing the enquiries desk despite a huge queue snaking across the concourse. She, of course, got no support from the several men who arrived, looked around and departed.
Eventually all was sorted and we continued our homeward journey to Manchester, where Tony's daughter Layla was waiting to greet us with a hugs and kisses. We've been staying with Layla and Simon for a few days whilst we get our own home back into a habitable state after being rented out for the year. They also organised a fabulous homecoming / Toný's 60th birthday / 1st wedding anniversary party for us. Fantastic as it was to travel the world, it was really lovely to spend time back with family and friends again. Apologies to anyone who we didn't manage to contact with party details as we didn't have e-mail addresses for everyone. Now it's back to sorting out the practicalities of having a home again and looking forward to not living out of a bag and travelling on buses.
Around the world and almost home!

Thank you both for sharing your adventures with us over the last year, I feel as though I have travelled the world from the comfort of my sofa rather than rickety old bus and I've been to places I had never heard of. We looked forward to your blogs and will miss them, perhaps you could continue writing them about trips to Tesco etc
