Puerto Santa Cruz Argentina, Santa Cruz, Argentina

Again, another windswept day, which buffeted us as we rode along this wonderful Ruta 3. The fauna is becoming a lot more interesting for us, with herds of Guanaco (Lamas, about 180cm long) becoming more common place, and the little road runners scurrying to climb through the fences as they hear our bikes thundering along the road.

We've passed many salt flats today where the water has dried up and left a white flat lake on the land.

The travelling was enjoyable today as there was less traffic along the road and we met up with other travelers who were heading to Ushuaia for Christmas and the New Year.

At our last fuel stop for the day, and having traveled 390km today, Lou spotted a hotel across the highway, so Lynn and I battled the wind, in our riding gear and walked across to assess its potential. Good price, clean rooms, place to store the bikes (however, not under cover), wifi and breakfast included. So we settled in the Rio Santa Cruz Hotel for a couple of nights over Christmas.

We have arrived back from Christmas with the family in Tassie about 3 hours ago, so sitting back with a bottle of champagne enjoying the cool gully breeze after 42 degree day.
