Case Noyale, Rivière Noire, Mauritius
After a leisurely breakfast watching the rain we ventured into a world of curious things. Stephen shrank but didn't manage to find Alice
Onward and upwards into the Black River Gorge National Park along a winding road to 2000ft where there are many waterfalls and some spectacular viewpoints but not so much on a cloudy day. In the distance you can see the coast to the East,South and West. And the reef beyond that surrounds the whole island.
High up on the plateau we visit to a lake in a volcanic crater. Water from the River Ganges was put in the lake and now it is a place of annual pilgrimage for thousands of Hindus every year. This years event is on 24th February and it is incredible how the infrastructure e has been set up for just one day every year. That's religion for you!
Lunch in Flic en Flac overlooking the sea at an Italian restaurant followed by Sunday afternoon siesta
