Sunday, and I woke up to another very rough and windy morning and set about getting my gear ready for the late morning dive. I decided that a light breakfast was in order since the wooden boat has a distinct roll in choppy seas, and I had no idea how far out we were going.
While I was looking out the window of the restaurant I noticed a man at one of the outside tables pointing up at something and telling his friends about it.
I couldn’t see what they were looking at, but as we left to go back to the room I saw there was a man perched up the top of one of the enormous coconut trees. He had climbed up there with just a strap around his ankles and no safety gear whatsoever (talk about worksafe!!) and was cutting down the coconuts.

No doubt so that the things don’t fall on the guests heads and brain them. Nasty business that!!
I thought he was either incredibly brave or rather stupid to be doing that without a fire truck ladder or at least a cherry picker, but I guess that’s the way they do things in these parts.
When we got back to the room and I was all ready to go off for the dive, the phone rang and it was someone telling us that the dive was off, due to the fact that the boat was broken. I don’t know what was broken on it but I did see it motoring off very slowly to one of the other islands not long after they rang.
When we went on the dive the other day I noticed that there were a lot of boats on another island close to here. There is also an enormous bank of solar panels constructed on the island. Hopefully there is a boat repair shop somewhere on there as well.
They did say that ‘if a miracle happened’ then the dive might be back on this afternoon, but since it is now 5pm and still the boat has not reappeared, then I guess the miracle did not happen.
Due to the missing boat and the fact that the sea was too rough to snorkel at the reef, we’ve had yet another lazy day by the pool.
I’m hoping the boat will be back tomorrow as we have a dolphin watch tour booked for 4.30pm and it would be nice to be able to partake of some sort of activity.

I'm sure Ross could have got up there with a bit practice
