On the road again at 8.45am and we had a good bus that was only about one third full, with the same people we had on the bus before, including a couple of ladies who had been staying at our hotel.
We only had the driver this time and no escort so we really didn’t know what to expect as he didn’t have a lot of English.
There was one bogan from Australia who used his vape pen all the way when he wasn’t snoring and drinking his three beers that he picked up at the first stop. Oddly enough it is the men who were requesting the comfort stops, again! The women were just going with the flow!
The countryside was quite interesting along the way with some very strange things being sold by the roadside. One thing looked like cooked sugarcane. Not entirely sure what it was.
There were the usual cows wandering along the side of the road and occasionally in front of the bus but they really didn’t pose any problems. Ross reckoned the driver nodded off once though which could have been disastrous, but wasn’t.
I did see one bus that had obviously been rolled and was in very bad shape at a depot along the road, but didn’t see any accidents, even with our close proximity to the various motorbikes towing all manner of trailers.

Vast rice paddies stretched into the distance, and several houses had tarpaulins spread out in front of them with rice drying on them.
The lunch stop was interesting. I purchased a couple of frappechinos which had no resemblance to the Starbucks ones, and though they were meant to be vanilla, they were actually very strong espressos.
Consequently I am still buzzing and can’t get the unpleasant taste out of my mouth even after a teeth scrubbing and a cup of tea. That’s what happens when you can’t speak the language.
The snacks in the shop had some very unusual ingredients such as cashews with anchovies and dried fish . As well as wasabi peas. I did buy some little Khmer cookies which I thought were terribly bland but Ross liked. I stuck with the potato chips that I had bought at the earlier shop. They were not of a weird flavour either.
We finally made it to our hotel at the Royal Angkor resort. It is an old resort but quite nice and the pool is huge.
We had a few cocktails at the pool for happy hour and then went back to the room to get ready for dinner.

After the long day traveling we decided to remain at the resort for dinner and partaked in some Cambodian fare as recommended by our waitress. It was all very nice and now we are relaxing in preparation for our tour to Angkor Wat tomorrow.
The Internet here is appalling so I may have to wait for Singapore to do the Angkor Wat post.
