Wineglass bay/Hazards beach circuit hike

Coles Bay, Tasmania, Australia
It was a beautiful sunny day today for our 11km hike down to Wineglass bay and then through the bush to Hazard beach on Promise bay.
The track was undulating and quite steep in parts and it passed through various types of scenery including the white sandy beach of Wineglass bay and swampy hinterland before coming out on Hazards beach . It then turned back into the Hazard mountain range and continued along the steep cliffs overlooking the bay. The walk took us a little less than four hours and was pretty tiring with all the climbing up and down the rocky steps.
The hiking tracks here must have been very difficult to carve out initially and there is a lot of rock steps that have been carefully placed to make ascents and descents easier.

After a brief rest for lunch at the bakery we drove up to Sleepy bay which was a beautiful rocky inlet very similar to the coastline in our own south west. We walked down to the little beach there and I went wading in the very cold but very clear and clean water.
From Sleepy bay we went up to the Lighthouse at Cape Tourville and looked out over the gorgeous views of the coastline and open sea.
It has been a very tiring day but very satisfying and we have seen a lot of the beautiful Freycinet National park.
We could have done with a couple of extra days here to do the Mt Amos summit walk and take a quad bike tour through the park but we have done as much as we can in the 2 and a half days we have been here.
The house we are staying is so lovely with its views over the bay and mountains and it is so quiet at night it is easy to get a good nights sleep.
