Home Again

Arlington, Virginia, United States
The first time I drove from Williamsburg to Arlington it took me all day. This time I was home by lunchtime. Traffic was light as it was Inauguration and Martin Luther King Jr day. What a relief to be home. What happiness to see Beth and Gordon and Ellie again. After 3,860 miles and 13 days on the road, it was good to turn off the machine and let it rest.

I could have saved 1,000 miles by taking the direct route home via I-10 and I 40 East. But it would have meant chances of even more cold, traversing the the midwest and the Eastern mountain ranges much further North. And much less fun, bumbling about on the bottom edge of the continent.

Thank you all for following along. It makes a huge difference to be able to talk to friends during such a journey.

Loved following your journey. But we missed seeing you all in DC. Another time. We discovered the National Zoo in 50 weather on Saturday. We'll be back there as well. Glad you're safely home.
