A day in Paris

Paris, Île-de-France, France
Had a very nice breakfast at the hotel this morning. Left for our driving city tour at 9 AM finishing at the Louvre at 11. We then were given a tour of the Louvre by Fanny, seeing the usual high points plus some other art and statues. The crowd in front of the Mona Lisa was huge. It was more interesting this time to look at the people. After leaving the museum for the remainder of the day on our own, we could only walk in one direction because there was a suspicious package on the Louvre grounds. We finally found the right way to go to Musee Rodin, about a mile away from the Louvre. It has been raining on and off all day today. There is quite a police presence around town. I am not sure how the police pick the locations, but there were numerous corners where they were stationed with Uzi type weapons. Forgot to mention yesterday, but there were 4 heavily armed police at the Monet house. We spent some time going through Rodin's garden where the Thinker and other works are displayed, then we toured the house which is now a museum. We did take a coffee break to relax for a few minutes. Walked back to the hotel (another mile). It turned out to be a 15,000 step day. Tonight is our farewell dinner and the results of the French election. Had a nice dinner with an excellent dessert consisting of raspberries and macaroons and raspberry sherbet. What a way to end a trip. We sang a few songs with Fanny, found out the new president here is Macron (good choice compared to other option), said goodbye to everyone and called it a night. We have 7 AM taxi reserved for airport tomorrow. Have to fight with Delta/Air France at airport since they screwed up our seats again-Diane in different location than Jim.

What a great trip and cannot believe the seat assignment problem again. Good news, you house is still across the street and is lonely for you two so have a safe journey home.

Thank you for yet another amazing travel journey. We don't need to visit France now, we have it all in words and pictures! Have a safe trip home.
