Takayama Green Hotel, Takayama
Had our choice today of Japanese or American breakfast at the Ryokan. Chose the latter. Again too much food but none went to waste. After some photo ops near the Ryokan and a group photo we went to the Odawaba Train Station by bus to catch our non-stop bullet train to Nagoya where we would transfer to a local train to Takayama. Prior to boarding we bought a box lunch (salads) to have during the second train ride. The bullet train travels at 186 mph while the local train feels more like a snail in comparison. Coming in 2037 is a meglav train that will be even faster. Arrived in Takayama at 2:15. On the way to our hotel we stopped to witness a traditional Japanese tea ceremony in the 12th century style. We all got to sample a really green tea. After settling in at the hotel, we walked to the local Seven Eleven to get beer and wine since the hotel prices are outrageous. Rested until dinner at 7:30 PM. The hotel buffet was included tonight but the only good things were the desserts.
I have included a picture of the controls on the toilet which is a must see. Every hotel so far has had something similar. It almost takes a training class to operate, but the heated seat is great in the cold.
