Slept in this morning and then went downstairs to say goodbye to the group heading to Hiroshima on the tour extension. Ate breakfast on the 15th floor again then took a walk around the area since we will be sitting a long time today/tonight.
We got picked up for the 90 minute ride to Osaka Airport at 1:30 PM. There were eight of us and we were escorted all the way to the check in counter by the Odyssey's rep. The JAL rep processed our bags for expedited handling. Our flight left a little late at 6:15 PM and arrived in Los Angeles at 12:05 PM, almost 6 hours before we left Osaka (by the clock). When we exited the plane, an American Airlines rep met us and gave us expedited processing forms so we wouldn't have a problem making our connection. With global entry and almost two hours before our flight to San Diego, we didn't need expediting. Arrived in San Diego at 3 PM to end a fabulous trip. Kudos to Japan Airlines for two great long distance flights.
Observations:
1. Although the people here are polite and queue up for everything in an orderly manner, you still get bumped and run over by luggage.
2. There are crowds of people everywhere. Of course this is cherry blossom time, so it is worse than usual,
3. Bowing is the standard, not shaking hands. One never knows when to stop. Even when we left our final hotel room, the maid bowed and thanked us.
4. Everything is clean. I dropped a paper one day by mistake and a lady nudged me and pointed at my sin. There are very few garbage cans around due to fear of dangerous items being left and harming people. You are suppose to carry your garbage to your hotel or home. Restrooms do not have towels or dryers for drying hands in most places.
5. Their automatic toilet technology is fabulous.
7. Really like the no tipping policy for everything. It sure simplifies life.
