Santiago & Santa Cruz Islands, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
Puerto Egas, San Salvador and Dragon Hill, Santa Cruz

Today we are at James Bay to explore Puerto Egas on Santiago Island . We had another early morning since we opted for the long walk and snorkeling activity that started at

8 AM. We had a wet landing on a black sand beach but it was a lot calmer than Thursday. On the walk today we saw the following birds: Oystercatchers, Ruddy Turnstones, Lava and Yellow Crown Night Herons, Yellow Warblers, and Mocking Birds along with Marine Iguanas, Sally Lightfoot crabs, Galapagos Sea Lions, Galapagos Fur Seals, and many Lava Lizards.   After the 1.5 hour walk, we snorkeled for almost an hour. Saw some Angelfish, Wrasse, Parrot Fish, Hogfish and even a Galapagos Shark (they don't like humans). Also saw some Pencil Sea Urchins. All in all it has been a day filled with new sights and probably one of the best snorkeling days. Today’s lunch was the Mexican buffet. We decided to skip the hike this afternoon and spend some downtime on the ship including time in the spa to sooth our tired legs. Walking on lava rock, sand and climbing stairs has been ample exercise. There has been no need to visit the gym. We can’t believe our week on the ship is almost up. We had some crew entertainment tonight before our 7:30 PM briefing then dinner in the dining room. After dinner there was a Karaoke contest (without winners). We turned in at 11 PM. Tomorrow is another early 8 AM start. (The Purser talked to the Marriott in Quito for us today and arranged for us to keep our room all day Monday until we leave for the airport at 8:30 PM for our 11:30 PM flight to Atlanta.)
