Jerusalem, Israel
Another day, another big breakfast. We needed it because we walked about 2 miles through the old city, up and down stairs and hills. We covered the Jewish and Arabic quarters, as well as walking over the rooftops around the Muslim quarter. Our guide takes us to these great uncrowded vantage points and then fills our minds with much more than we can absorb. We visited the Cardo, the Western Wall, went through the Western Wall Tunnel, saw the Dome of the Rock and Temple Mount, and entered a Protestant Church that is also partially a synagogue. There were many Bar Mitzvahs being conducted at the wall; of course women are not allowed on the same side as the men. Therefore mothers can not be with the Bar Mitzvah group. Also got to spend some time visiting the Jewish and Arab shops. Tonight we saw a fabulous laser light show outside at the Tower of David Museum. The show traced the history of Jerusalem from -3300 to 1948. After the show we had a nice dinner on the patio of Anne Ticho restaurant outside the city walls. It was a beautiful relaxing evening after a warm day of touring.
