Uluru National Park, Northern Territory, Australia
Day 10 – Left our hotel in Alice Springs at 645am for the 5 hour drive to Ayers Rock (Uluru). Desert drive much like trip from Barstow to Baker but longer and less traffic. While waiting
for our room we had lunch, wandered the town square (about as big as our house), then relaxed and got ready for our Sounds of Silence dinner under the stars. Only problem was there were no stars or a setting sun on Ayers Rock. We got a few sprinkles during dinner. The dinner started with champagne and canapés. We had crocodile, kangaroo, and salmon. We were entertained by a Digeroo player. Dinner consisted of orange pumpkin soup, barramundi, chicken, kangaroo,
salads, veggies and wonderful desserts. Wine was poured throughout the dinner. Later had a talk about the stars in the Southern Hemisphere, although we couldn’t see them. Met some nice people from England.
