Ayers Rock Sunrise (?) and Flight to Melbourne

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Day 11 – We got up at 4am for our 430am pickup to witness the sunrise on Ayers Rock. Problem was there was no sun but it was quite a sight seeing hundreds of people staring at a rock in the desert. The rest of the morning we did several hikes around the rock and got some facts about how the Aboriginal people use the rock area for their coming of age rites for their boys and girls. Several sacred sites were off limits for photos. It rained most of the morning, but we saw a sight most people don't get to see: rain flowing off the rock. Got back to the hotel about 1030, got our bags and caught our noon flight to Melbourne. After checking into our hotel, we walked to Swanston Street area, known for its Asian food. We had a great Vietnamese dinner. It is amazing how much graffiti is on every building in Melbourne; it doesn’t matter what section of town. We have had drizzles since we got here, but can’t complain since they really need the moisture.
