Driving the Glacier Highway

Fox Glacier, South Island, New Zealand
Day 27 - Had a fish and chips dinner last night at the Pig & Whistle Pub then did our internet thing. Left Queenstown at 7:30am this morning since we had about a 7 hour drive to Fox Glacier. The drive was like the weather in Colorado; if you didn’t like the scenery one minute, it would change within the hour. We
went from the wine country outside Queenstown, through farm land and
fruit orchards, into rainforest areas (naturally it rained), along the
Tasman Sea, then onto the Glacier Highway. Stopped along the way and took a short walk to view Thunder Falls and took a stroll on the beach after lunch. Tonight we are staying at Misty Peaks B&B with six women from Arizona and a couple from Tasmania. These same women were having dinner at a table next to us one night in Queenstown. After checking in we drove over to the Fox Glacier Trailhead and took the hour stroll to see the glacier. It was cold and drizzly with some snow flurries mixed in. Saw some great signs today which we have included on the photo page. It is wine and cheese time at the B&B in 10 minutes then we are having rack of lamb here. (Not many places around Fox Glacier to have a gourmet meal.) Our meal was very tasty. Had eight lamb chops on the rack. Discussed
everything at dinner from the pending Australian elections to the New
Zealand style of government and the feeling in the country about our
president. Finally turned in about 10pm.
