A very late arrival in Lima

Lima, Peru
Arrived at the airport at 5 AM, checked our luggage through to Lima (hopefully) and made it through security by 5:40. Flight took off about 7:15 for the 4 hour 10 minute flight to Miami. Arrived in Miami on time. By the time we got off plane we had 1 hour 40 minutes before our scheduled Lima flight. Got a sandwich and chips to tide us over until our dinner on the flight. Both flights today are completely full. In fact our LAS to MIA flight was overbooked and MIA to Lima flight has 22 standbys. Who said people aren't traveling.

Boarded flight to Lima at 3:30 PM for our 4:30 flight.   And then we sat and sat for 4 hours. Takeoff was delayed until 7:30 Miami time while they first worked on a baggage storage problem (?) then a navigation control problem. It was not fun but better to fly knowing which way you are going. The plane was a really old feeling 767 and not real comfortable. To avoid a mutiny while we waited, they served us a granola bar and water. Could you ask for anything more? At least once we were airborne we got a reasonable ravioli dinner. To compound matters they ran out of wine (free) so we had to opt for gin and scotch (also free). Good old American Airlines. Guess one shouldn't fly a bankrupt carrier. Service was great though. Arrived in Lima at midnight, instead of 9:30 ish. Got through customs and passport control quickly but then our luggage took forever to come out. For a while, we thought it was still in Las Vegas. After passing through "luggage control"  we found the Kuoda agent meeting us, Dania, She walked us to the Ramada across the street from the airport, discussed the plans for the next day (actually same day) and said she would meet us at 8 AM. After washing off the day's debris, we finally turned in at 1:40 AM. Needless to say it was a long day and a short night.
