Salina, ks, Kansas, United States
It was 43 degrees and drizzling at Lake Scott so we decided to leave. It was a really nice park with a lake and some nice trails. It would have been a perfect place to break out the kayaks and the bikes, but the weather prohibited both. So we drove to Salina, Kansas and spent the night there.
On Monday morning we took a 20 minute drive to the north to Minneapolis,Kansas and explored the town . This is where Susie's great-great-grandparents and paternal great-grandmother lived, in the late 1800's. We visited the Cemetery and found their headstones. We then went into town to the museum, but it was closed. We drove around and fell in love with this gem of a town. About two thousand residents in a spotless, quiet village. It had a beautiful central park and a quaint downtown area that seemed to be thriving. We took a short drive outside town to Rock City; their historic site of boulders.
All in all it was a peaceful day exploring the back roads of the Midwest.
