After 20+ hours flying, we arrived in Perth, Australia as advertised
. We were happy to get to our hotel downtown in Perth. It was even better to be able to streach out. We will be in Perth for 8 days and then head down to the pier and board the Sun Princess Cruise ship.
Meanwhile, for all you Perth enthusiasts, we will try and give you a few facts...
Perth, the capital of the state of Western Australia (2.2 million) by the Swan River, is on the southwestern seaside of Australia. It was founded by Captain James Stirling in 1829. The city is named after Perth, Scotland, by influence of Sir George Murray, then British Secretary of State for War and the Colonies. Before European colonization, the area had been inhabited by the Whadjuk Noongar people for over 40,000 years, as evidenced by archaeological findings on the Upper Swan River. These Noongar people occupied the southwest corner of Western Australia and lived as hunter-gatherers. The area where Perth now stands is also known as Boorloo by the Noongar people
. The Boorloo are also sometimes called the Bibbulmun.
There are three major hospitals: MOUNT HOSPITAL, ROYAL PERTH HOSPITAL, AND KINGS PARK DAY HOSPITAL.
Three major parks: ASPEN PARK, WATER PLAYGROUND AND THE BOTONICAL GARDENS.
There ae over 1,330 restaurants. So, you will not go hungry!
The Perth International Airport (airport code PER) is located about 12 kilometers northeast of the city of Perth in Western Australia on the edge of the Indian Ocean.
