AUSTRALIAN LINGO .... Knock up - wake up. When I was staying with a host family in South Australia, the host father told me he would knock me up in the morning. His innocent Aussie English meant knock on my door to wake me up but as an American I was quite shocked since to me it appeared he planned to get me pregnant. Bethani Ann De Long Vehapi, Choex, Switzerland

Tuesday, 1/5/2016. Zoo day. Perth has a world class zoo. To get there, we had to first locate the ferry to cross the Swan River. That was no problem since our hotel is only a few blocks from the pier. It cost us $2.00 Australian dollars each (or $1.43 US). It took us all of 15 minutes to cross the river. Once we crossed, it was a five minute walk to the zoo. The entrance fee is $29.00 Australian for an adult or $20.80 US. Both Nelly and I chipped in that we were Seniors and without batting an eye, the lady gave us a discount: $20 per person or $14.35 US. Why do we make such a big deal out of this? Because everywhere we have been in Perth, there are signs that say we must prove Australian citizenship before we get the discount. Well, anyway, we won one.

The zoo was every thing it was billed and more. It felt like we were in a jungle. We entered when it openned at 9:00 AM and left just before noon, totally exhausted. Well, you decide from the pictures we took.
