Back in Casa

Casablanca, Morocco
We are now back in Casa for the final few days of our Moroccan adventure. It was a long drive from Fes, and we stopped and had lunch in the beautiful city of Ifrane. I would've liked to see the American university there, but c'est la vie!

The pictures I'm posting are from Fes: the district conference on Saturday, staying with our host family, the medina, and our other host family Sunday - this morning .

I've been thinking a lot the last few days about being here and what I've learned about Morocco, myself, my job, etc. Sometimes it feels like we've been here longer than a month, and sometimes it feels like we just arrived last week.

I must admit that I'm also getting a little homesick, but I think this is normal. I miss my family and friends and my dog, Kelly. I miss working out (and so do my flabby muscles!) and my routine and even (gulp!)...work. There is something comforting for me about knowing what to expect and knowing what I will be doing in a typical day. Maybe this makes me boring and unpredictable, but I can live with that. I miss not knowing about what is going on in the world and feeling a bit isolated, especially on the days we were without internet access. I miss eating my yogurt and fruit in the morning (here it is mostly bread) and my smaller meals during the day.

I know no matter how much I miss all this, I will really miss Morocco, especially the fantastic people we've met. Lots of people have said that I am welcome to come back and visit, and I might just take them up on that! :)
