Plane, Train & an Automobile

I will take a plane to Seattle, a train to Vancouver and then at some point rent a car when I am there. I have been intrigued by Vancouver since the 2010 Winter Olympics. I keep reading how it's the only city where you an ski and lie on the beach in the same day. So, before I attend and speak at the ARSL Conference next week in Tacoma, I thought it would be fun to spend a few days in British Columbia.

This song also keeps running through my head.

I'm guessing it won't be playing once I cross the border, eh?

Joking aside, Vancouver looks like an amazing city, with a ton a do, tons of great food and culture and beautiful scenery. I don't have a super-planned itinerary, but more of an idea of things I could do. I'm not going to go sit on Kits Beach if it's pouring rain, so a lot of activities will be dependent on the weather. If it is down pouring, I might just drop $30 and visit the aquarium (although I do feel once you have seen one fish, you have seen them all).

I'm also very excited for the seafood and for the abundance of (inexpensive and good) sushi. One in five people in Vancouver are from Asia. I'm guessing I haven't done a ton of planning because it's "just" Canada after all, our friendly neighbor to the north. It's a bit different than traveling solo to Colombia.

But still, I have some Canadian money in tow and it should be a good time.
Eh ?
