Packing Day

Sunday, March 26, 2017
Green Bay, Wisconsin, United States
We leave Thursday morning. Drive to Milwaukee, bus to Chicago and 8 hours to Frankfurt. Today was a day of laundry, sorting, charging devices and packing. I usually dread this, as I have written about in the past, but now I don't stress as much about it. Plus, we are taking a carry-on size suitcase so we can have it on the plane. With that, you have limited room, and that's a good thing.

As soon as my bag was ready, I zipped it up and carried it up and down the stairs, along with my day bag . It's a good thing to be able to do, as you never know when you might come upon an area or train station that doesn't have a working escalator. Plus, we will be traveling from city to city exclusively by train, which means we will be handling all of our own stuff.

Once we land in Frankfurt on Friday morning, the plan is to take a long-distance train from the airport to Nuremberg. Nuremberg is en route to Munich anyway, so I thought it would be a good place to stop and spend a night. Then, we head to Munich, Heidelberg, Trier and Koblenz, before heading back to the Frankfurt airport for home. We aren't spending any time in Frankfurt, and I think this is a good idea, as there are more interesting places to see.

As far as I can tell, the weather looks good, with temps in the high 50s/low 60s during the day, and in the 40s in the evening. I'm glad we won't need to pack super heavy clothes.

I've also been practicing some basic German as I feel it makes the locals glad that you made an effort, Hopefully, I will impress them. Hahaha.

Gute Nacht!
