Today, I had a long bus ride from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik, then jumped on a city bus tot he sea port town of Cavtat. Cavtat is closer to the airport than Dubrovnik, and because I have an early flight, I thought it would be better to stay here. I have a huge apartment, which is kind of a shame, since I will only be here for one night.
The bus took awhile because we had a few stops, and the three passport checks,. It's crazy to think that, but you can see it when you look at a map. The highway dips through Bosnia, back into Croatia, and then back into Bosnia. It's kind of like when traveling to Northern Wisconsin and dipping into Michigan, and then into Wisconsin again before finally being in the U.P., with the exception of not having a scary police man check your passport. They actually weren't too scary at all.
The drive was stunning. Snow, then hills, mountains, and then driving along the sea. The ride was smooth, quiet, and I dozed off a few times.
Cavtat looks cute (in the dark), but is really quiet. You can tell it's the "low" season, as only one restaurant was open tonight.
I have three flights to tomorrow. Dubrovnik to Zagreb, then Zagreb to Istanbul, then Istanbul to Chicago. Fingers crossed that all goes on time.
Thanks for reading,
Jamie
