Last Day and Earthquake

San Pedro, San José, Costa Rica
Editor's note: My friend who works for the NWS did confirm there indeed, was an earthquake at 10:49 last night around San Jose. It was a 4.6 According to wikipedia, that is considered "light" but enough to "shake" things in a home. So....I wasn't dreaming!

Yesterday was my last day of volunteering at the school . I was kind of sad when the kids were leaving and asking if they would see me on Monday. I told them it was my last day. I'm sure it's hard for them, seeing people come and go. But, I would like to think I made a difference in a short amount of time. Or, at least I hope I did. It was definitely a great experience, and I would like to do it again. I know IVHQ has programs in Peru. Any takers?!? :)

My cold has worsened a bit, and now my nose is running like a faucet. I'm hoping it will improve soon.

I had dinner last night with my friend's niece, Alejandra, and her boyfriend Walter. They picked me up at the house and we had dinner at an Italian restaurant in San Pedro. It was a nice change! They are super nice people, and I'm glad I got to meet them.

I'm sad that I'm leaving the Cubillo family today, but excited because Lissy arrives and we are going to Manuel Antonio!! I guess you could say this is where the real "vacation" starts . I'm very excited to see her and to share this part of the adventure with her.

The Cubillo's have been wonderful hosts, and I can't say enough great things about them. Marita, especially, cooked great meals and really felt like a "mom" to me. I will miss them dearly.

After I laid down last night to go to sleep, I thought I felt a small tremor. Granted, I'm pretty drugged up from the cold medicine, but I swear my bed was shaking. What a crazy feeling! It only lasted a few seconds. I was ready to hit the doorway when it ended.

Now I must pack, shower and get ready to head to M.A. Our driver, Mr. Freddy, is supposed to pick me up around noon. Then we will head to the airport to get Lissy, who arrives at 1. We should be in M.A. by 5 pm at the latest. I heard the drive there is beautiful, so I can't wait to take more pictures!

Adios for now!

My husband said that there were some more 6 something quakes in Chile this morning--- so you maybe did experience one. Or, what did you drink last night? They have similar garbage containers in Chile-- to keep the garbage out of reach of the MANY stray dogs. I am enjoying your photos and blog.
