Critters

Wattamolla, AU, New South Wales, Australia
So far I have not encountered any critters that are scary. There are snakes in Australia, and that does scare me a bit. On New Years Eve, some beetle landed on my shirt and I thought I was going to throw up. They also have cicadas, which look like small birds. Nasty.

Apparently there could be snakes when I walk in the long grass down to the river . I asked Vicky what kind they have and she said mainly the red-bellied black snakes. They aren't vicious and actually are good, because they "keep the tiger snakes away (poisonous and vicious). Super.....

But for the most part, I've just seen flies. Flies and mosquitoes. I can live with that. Snakes can stay away. I haven't seen any bats, but they do have wombats, which are the size of a fox. I think I might rather get bit by a bat than a snake, as rabies might be better than dealing with venom. Although what do I know?

In other news, another pair of helpers arrived today at the Levey house, Jim and Laura. They are from England, and are on a very long tour. They have already been to Asia and hope to get to Figi and possibly Hawaii after visiting New Zealand. They are very nice!

Today I did some edging and helped Vicky clean their cabin for other guests arriving. We took a ride into the town of Bowral and I got to walk around and explore. It was a beautiful drive, as we went through the village of Kangaroo Valley. I still have not seen any kangaroos, but I'm still hopeful. Because it was rainy and foggy, I could not see the valley very well, but what I did see was stunning. It's going to be hard to leave this area. :(

Until next time...Jamie
