Bogota, Colombia
This morning I bid farewell to Kristin from Berlin and Tara and Walter. They were very nice hosts! I packed my backpack for what feels like the millioneth time, and I hailed a cab to the airport in Cartagena, en route to Bogota. That cabbie charged me $8, which kind of seemed like a rip off, but at that point I didn't care as much. When you're standing on the sidewalk and the sun is beating down on you, you will just pay anything to get where you need.

The flight went smoothly, and Lidia picked me up shortly after I arrived . She is also on airbnb and lives near the airport. She made me a nice lunch and then suggested I take a nap before heading to Bogota to see some things. The nap was much needed, and then we took a collectivo (small bus) to central Bogota. We walked along a street as to what seemed like a big flea market of people selling stuff, entertainers, statues, food, etc. We saw the cathedral and walked along La Candaleria, the area that is the prettiest in Bogota but doesn't have the best reputation after dark. We were there when it was still light out, so it was ok. We took the bus back to her apartment and she made delicious arepas. Those are like the hamburgers of America. She's a very sweet lady and it was a great way to end my time here.

Tomorrow I have to get up super early for my flight back, like 2:45. That will be awesome. :)

Hasta Luega!
Jamie
