Planning an outback odyssey during a pandemic is a little different. First, we are extremely thankful that we can even contemplate an adventure during this time while many of our friends and family around the world cannot. Secondly, we are aware that borders may close at any time and that we may be stranded due to Australia's strategy of having zero community transmission of COVID-19.
Everything has to be flexible and yet bookings have to be made as the word on the street is that thousands of Australians are also headed to the same locations as us. We are unable to book campsites at some locations so we have erred on the side of being flexible.... Interesting times and first world problems!
We are a cycling family; however, we haven't the time or inclination to cycle from Echuca, through the red centre, to Darwin and back. We have thus invested in folding bicycles, hired a car, loaded up our tent and heading off: let our driving and cycling adventure begin!
