Sabbath around Montreal

Montreal, Quebec, Canada
This morning, I woke feeling still a bit tired, jet lag opened my eyes early, but still fit and functional. I enjoyed a quick breakfast, and was on the road by a little after 09:00. The drive to Sainte Hyacinthe passed smoothly; there was not much traffic on this chilly morning.

We were only eight for our service, four people were not able to attend due to health issues, but everyone present was very happy to be together. I spoke on the topic of the spirit in man. We broke for lunch, setting up a tables and moving chairs up so we could eat together. Some members brought their food from home, some bough sandwiches and the like from restaurants just outside. I had a Lebanese falafel plate which was excellent.

We ate and talked about many things. One inescapable topic all around the world is Donald Trump, the curiosity, bewilderment, amusement and alarm is palpable wherever I travel. We talked about prophetic trends, winter in Canada, travel, health issues, various Bible questions and much more.

About 2:00 I plugged my laptop into the big screen on the wall and showed a PowerPoint presentation about my most recent travels through Africa. It was an informal presentation, with questions and answers and give and take as the photos scrolled by. Our Canadian brethren had many questions about life in Africa and the situations of our church members there. We ended up watching and talking for two hours ending about 4:00 and without being aware of how much time had gone by. It was enlightening and encouraging.

Then it was time to start for home. Some of our members here drive for nearly two hours each way to attend our monthly service, and most prefer to be home before it gets dark, which is entirely understandable. It was a very good Sabbath, positive and encouraging.

My drive back to Montreal passed without incident. I know the way now, so I didn't need to consult the GPS to find the hotel. I filled the car with gas, so it will be ready for an early drop-off.

Home tomorrow!
