First day on the road. Got an early start on a cold morning. Got our monthly haircuts in Ventura and were back on the road by 11.30 am. Took the scenic route around Lake Casitas and tanked up in Carpinteria at $4.19/gallon. Arrived at the Cold Spring Tavern on the 154 around 1.00. Had tri tip sandwiches which had huge slabs of meat on them and big onion rings on the side with cold beers for me,
Back on the road and up to Morro Bay by mid afternoon. Nice weather but windy and big white caps whenever we saw the ocean on our drive today. Checked into the Fireside Inn just 2 blocks up from the Embarcadero and bay. Morro Rock is outside our window.
We strolled along the Embarcadero and looked at shops a bit; most everything was already closed by 5 pm. Looked at the boats and what not and wandered over by the little Maritime Museum with a submersible and a few old boats. Made our way back to the inn but I wandered down again after a short rest so I could watch the sun sink behind Morro Rock.
