Day 4: Point Reyes to Fort Bragg
On the road by 9 again; a foggy morning with sun peeking out.
First was a short stop at The Tides in Bodega Bay (where they filmed "The Birds"). Back on the road up 1 through the Sonoma coast with bright blue ocean with whipped white caps to our left. Stopped at a few vista points. Then we stopped at Fort Ross; an old wooden stockade fort originally settled by the Russians in the early 1800s. It was very interesting; almost all the buildings were replicas but there was one original building.
Next stop was the Ocean Cove restaurant for some fish and chips and onion rings. Really nice with a Lost Coast ale. Then on the road up to Point Arena Lighthouse. The lighthouse tower was closed (COVID) but their little museum with a big Fresnel lens and the old fog horn, etc.
Arrived in Fort Bragg around 4 pm. Settled into our room at the Ocean Front hotel with a room overlooking the waves. I hiked about 1.5 km each way out to Glass Beach and collected a pocket full of sea glass.
