Spent the day in Redwoods State Park along the Avenue of the Giants; a road that parallels 101 but meanders through the huge redwood trees. We enjoyed several hikes including the Founders Grove and the Chaney Grove. The forest is amazing with the huge trees. When they fall over, they become habitat for many other life forms, both plant and animal. It can take centuries for the trees to decay into the forest floor.
The weather was nice, sunny but in the shade it was nice and cool. We had a little snack in the grove at lunch time and then meandered through the woods. A very relaxing day...
We returned to the hotel for a short respite. We decided to go back to Redway and go to the Lost French Man restaurant at which we had lunch the other day. We got some individual pizzas (I had bell pepper and bacon) and a nice spinach, strawberry and bacon salad.
Then we relaxed the rest of the evening and into the night. Only 8 channels or so on the TV at Miranda Gardens; we ended up watching several episodes of 2 Broke Girls these past 2 nights; had never seen it before but I really didn't want to watch CNN, Fox News, Toon network, a dumb reality show or sports, so 2 Broke Girls it was. Not enough internet connection to maintain watching something else anyway...
