Day 10: Crescent City, Redwoods and Oregon Coast

Crescent City, California, United States
We were up early again this morning.  They had a nice grab-n-go breakfast with a lot of choices of items (a lot of places are either not serving breakfast or are just serving grab n go; which is a little sack lunch,
On the road shortly after 8 and went to Jedidiah State Park and walked around the trail on the Stout Grove.  Jerry was in a lot of pain so we decided to go for a ride to the Oregon Coast.  Stopped in Gold Beach.  Saw the derelict Mary D Hume, which was built in Gold Beach in 1881.  It's been beached on a sand bar on the mouth of the Rogue River for several decade now.  Covered in moss and algae with tall grasses covering the deck of the stern.
We went back down the 101 a bit and stopped at Gold Beach BBQ which had excellent tri tip and really cheesy mac-n-cheese.  A nice local pale ale was a good accompaniment.  Jerry had some good baby ribs.
On the way back down the 101 towards California, we pulled off at several places for great views of the ocean.  We walked on Whaleshead Beach near Brookings.  The sand was a mix of gold and black, probably full of iron.
We tanked up the gas tank while in OR; gas was a whole dollar cheaper at $3.39 or something like that.
We stopped at the Battery Point lighthouse, which is on an island, but the tide was coming in and we would have gotten wet crossing over to the island.
Got back to the hotel mid afternoon.  Did a load of laundry; fastest washing machine I ever used (28 minutes to do a full load).  I did a quick swim in the indoor heated pool and soaked very shortly in the hot tub.  After the laundry, I took a walk on the beach right across the street from the hotel.
