Today we packed our big bags to have sent to a hotel in advance so that we can travel with just a day bag.

We all went to meet and have breakfast at a local Bagel bar, apparently pretty good . I ordered my bagel and sat down and guess what type of butter they used, good old Anchor butter from New Zealand.

After breakfast we carried on to start the big trip for the day, about 4 hours on different chicken buses and finished off with a 10 minute ride on a tuk-tuk.

The chicken buses were pretty cramped, I think that could be why they are called chicken buses, but who knows. In total we took four different buses, the last of which was not very full which meant that we could all relax a little.

We traveled through the hills and fertile fields of the Guatemalan highlands to the shores of Lake Atitlán, one of the most beautiful spots in Guatemala.

We arrived at hotel Posada K'amol B'ey' and we then all went into town for some food followed by some shopping.

Panajachel is a relatively modern town with paved streets in its centre and a great deal of old world flavour and charm.

The majority of us ended up buying some local clothing, not something you would probably wear every day... Unless your a hippie or something like that.

Dinner was next on the list of things for the day, not really much to say about that, the food was good, no complaints there. After dinner we all went back to the hotel and went up onto the roof and had some drinks, I would love to say I was a great view an we could see the stars etc, however it was all cloudy, but still a good night either way.
