Ok, so last night was pretty good, out dancing the night away until about 3am, then to bed before getting up at about 7am to get ready to head to the Ruins in Tullum.
Upon waking I find that I have had a message asking if I knew where Poppy was? I knew Poppy continued on with a few of the others so just said I wasn't sure
. Within a few minutes I saw a post go up from Poppy saying she had broken her leg, Whhhhaaaatttt...
Sounds like Poppy made a miscalculation in judgement as to how high something was, either that or it was a combination of too many Fantas and bad footwear.
Ane, Dan, Sabrina, Stefanie, Marc and myself travelled to Tulum to see the ruins. We were picked up by our driver Enrique who drove us about 1 hour to Tulum, he dropped us off and let us basically do our own thing.
To be honest, the ruins are ok, nothing on what the ruins in Tikal were like, but this place was WAY over populated, way to many tourists (yes me included) if you wanted a photo of anything you just have to accept that there are going to be heaps of people in it. At one stage I was trying to get a picture of me and I ended up saying "Hold on, let's just wait for all these tourist to go past". Sabrina ended up pointing out to me that we are tourists too
.
I probably wouldn't recommend the ruins if you don't want to spend the 59 Pesos (about NZ$6) to go. This place must make a fortune, in the time we were there probably over a couple of thousand people there, and we were only there a couple of hours, you do the math.
Swimming and then lunch was involved after the ruins, probably about 4 or so hours and each time our driver just patiently waited. Sabrina did ask him if he wanted to join us, but no, he was just happy to wait. What a guy, in the end we all tipped him pretty well.
Back just in time to get changed and ready for dinner followed by Coco Bongo.
We were joined at dinner by Karoline and Caroline (2 girls from the guys previous trip). Our waiter brought all our drinks out balanced on top of his head which was pretty impressive.
After dinner it was off to Coco Bongo
. Now this is part of the evening can't really be explained in words, it's one of those things you have to see and do to fully appreciate. I will say this, if you want a evening of great music, dancing, acrobatics, continuous drinks, and a great show, then this is something you should do if you are given the chance. It starts at 11pm and finishes at 3am... I didn't really think I'd be able to do the whole night initially, but once your in that door you really don't want it to end.
Coco Bongo was an amazing way to finish the entire trip, it's sad that it's all over now, as this is the last group activity we do as the tour group.
After Coco Bongo was over, we started to say goodbye to some of the people we have meet over the trip from some of the other tour groups and then went into town to hit some of the clubs.
After getting into one of the clubs, Sabrina noticed that poor little Ane was quite upset about it all, so she took her outside to comfort her. Sabrina went inside to get some water for Ane and when she came out she saw us all outside with Ane comforting her, it's nice to see we have all bonded so much that we all went out to make sure she was alright.
