Netherlands to France -- via Italy, naturally.

Calvi, Corsica, France
My dear, dear friends Gaby and Rudi are lucky enough to have called Paris home for the last year. I have been anxious to visit them and meet their bambino, Nico. So I was super excited when my work trip included Paris on the itinerary. Hurray!

The only catch was that the Angonno family had plans to be on a European road-trip that overlapped with my dates . Well. I was in Europe. They were in Europe. I had vacation days. And they had a baby I hadn't yet met.

On Friday I flew from Amsterdam to Pisa, Italy. We drove to the lovely agriturismo they were staying at just outside of Lucca. It was a working olive oil farm and absolutely gorgeous. Tuscany looks just like every picture or painting you've ever seen of it. Breathtaking.

My night in Italy offered lots of laughter and some truly phenomenal food -- and a bit too much Italian vino. HA! Ain't no such thing.

Then, this morning we headed to Livorno, Italy to board a car ferry that would take us to Corsica, France. It was so fun getting to watch Nico experience el barco (the boat) and auto (car!), auto (car!), un auto (yep, another car). And his first-ever ball pit adventure. Once in Corsica we had another drive to reach Calvi. It was nighttime so we couldn't see much, but based on the elevation, large expanses with a lack of light and windy roads, I suspect some beautiful scenery awaits us in the morning.

Now Nico is having dreams about barcos and autos. Rudi is opening some Tuscan wine they brought along and Gaby is trying to find us some English TV. So far we've settled on the French Dancing with the Stars. And I spotted a familiar SYTYCD face, Jean Marc Genereux is a judge!

Va bene. Ça C'est Ça. Life is what you make it.
